Terms of Service

These are the rules for using Receipto. They're a legal agreement between you and us, but we've tried to write them as plainly as possible. If something here matters to you, please read carefully — by using Receipto, you're agreeing to all of it.

1. Who's agreeing to what

"Receipto", "we", "us" and "our" refer to Krenn Tobias, based in Austria. "You" means anyone using the Receipto app or website. By creating an account or using the app, you accept these terms.

2. Your account

You need to be at least 16 years old to use Receipto. If you're younger, you need a parent or guardian to agree to these terms on your behalf.

You're responsible for keeping your account credentials safe. If someone gets into your account because you shared your password, that's on you. If you suspect unauthorised access, email us immediately and we'll help.

You can use Receipto with Sign in with Apple, in which case Apple handles authentication for us. The same security responsibilities apply.

3. Your licence to use Receipto

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use Receipto for your own personal or business use. You can use it on any iOS device you own or control, in line with Apple's standard App Store terms.

You don't have the right to: copy the app outside of normal device backups, reverse-engineer it, modify it, sell or sub-licence it, or use it to build a competing product. The Receipto name, logo, design and code remain our property.

4. Your content

The receipts you upload, the photos you take, the notes you write — that's your content. You own it. We never claim any rights to it beyond what we strictly need to provide the service to you (storing it, syncing it between your devices, generating exports for you, running OCR on it).

You're responsible for the legality of what you upload. Don't upload receipts you don't have the right to upload, or content that's illegal in Austria or the EU. We don't pre-screen content but we may remove it if it violates these terms.

Receipto is a personal record-keeping tool, not legal or tax advice. The data we extract from your receipts may contain errors — always double-check fields before relying on them for tax filings or warranty claims.

5. Subscriptions and payments

Receipto offers a free tier and paid Pro subscriptions. Current pricing is shown in the app and on our website.

• Free tier: 5 receipts (lifetime), basic features.
• Pro Monthly / Pro Yearly: auto-renewing subscriptions billed by Apple.
• Lifetime: a one-time purchase that grants Pro access for as long as the app exists.

All payments are processed by Apple via the App Store. You agree to Apple's payment terms when you subscribe. Subscriptions auto-renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before renewal, in line with Apple's standard policy.

Free trials, if offered, convert to paid subscriptions when the trial ends unless you cancel. We don't send you nag emails about this — Apple sends a reminder email automatically.

We reserve the right to change subscription prices for new subscribers at any time. Existing subscribers will be notified at least 30 days before any price change takes effect for them.

6. Cancelling and refunds

You can cancel your subscription at any time in your iPhone's Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions. You'll keep Pro access until the end of the current billing period.

EU right of withdrawal: as a consumer in the EU, you generally have a 14-day right of withdrawal for digital purchases. By starting to use Pro features (such as scanning your first receipt with OCR), you expressly agree to waive this right under §18 (1) Z. 11 FAGG (Austrian Distance Selling Act) so the service can begin immediately. If you have not used any Pro feature, you can request a refund by emailing us within 14 days of purchase.

For refunds beyond the withdrawal period, contact Apple Support — they handle all App Store refunds. We can't process refunds directly because we never receive your payment information.

Lifetime purchases are non-refundable after 14 days.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use Receipto for anything illegal under Austrian, EU, or your local law.
• Upload receipts that aren't yours or that you don't have permission to digitise.
• Try to break, hack, overload, or reverse-engineer our systems.
• Use Receipto to commit tax fraud, insurance fraud, or warranty fraud.
• Resell, lease, or commercialise access to your account.
• Scrape, copy, or systematically harvest data from the app or website.

Violating these rules may result in your account being suspended or terminated without refund, and we may report serious violations to relevant authorities.

8. Liability and warranty

We work hard to make Receipto reliable, but no software is perfect. The app is provided "as is" without any guarantees about uninterrupted availability, error-free operation, or the accuracy of OCR-extracted data.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude liability for indirect or consequential damages — for example, lost warranty claims because of an OCR error, missed tax deadlines, or accountant fees you incurred relying on a Receipto export.

However, nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for: death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or anything else that can't be excluded by law. As a consumer in Austria or the EU, your statutory rights are not affected.

Our total aggregate liability to you in any 12-month period is limited to the amount you paid us during that period, or €100, whichever is greater.

9. Termination

You can stop using Receipto at any time. Deleting your account erases all your data in line with our Privacy Policy.

We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these terms, if your account is inactive for more than 24 months, or if we discontinue the service. If we terminate without cause, you'll have 30 days to export your data before it's deleted.

Lifetime purchasers retain access for as long as the app continues to exist as a service. If we ever shut Receipto down entirely, we'll give Lifetime users at least 12 months' notice and provide an export of all their data.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms occasionally. If we make material changes, we'll notify you by email and in the app at least 30 days before they take effect. Minor clarifications, typo fixes, or updates that don't affect your rights take effect immediately and don't trigger a notification.

If you don't agree to a material change, you can stop using the app and request a pro-rated refund of any unused subscription period.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by Austrian law, with mandatory consumer-protection laws of your country of residence applying where they grant you stronger rights. Any dispute will be resolved by the competent courts of Austria, unless mandatory consumer-protection law gives you the right to sue in your country of residence.

The European Commission provides an Online Dispute Resolution platform for consumer disputes. We're happy to participate in such proceedings if needed.
